Okay, it's blatant over-sexualized bubblegum pop, but that's part of the reason I love it! I won't be abandoning my love of Brit rock and indie, but I'm really into this right now.
I love the videos:
They're just so cute I love them! The guys and the girls. It's all just so overdone that I find it hard not to love.
I really like (이효리) Lee-Hyo-Ri.
She's so many different characters in this video, and one of the characters is the most blatantly sexual school teacher outfit and french maid costume.
Makes me really want to fly west, and spend a few weeks in Tokyo, Seoul and Hong Kong nightclubs. I'd so dress for my life, rock some Vivienne Westwood mixed with Asian designers. It'd be amazing. I guess it's something to add to my list of life aims.
Thanks to Bobby Dawn, I just started listening to Hercules & Love Affair. More shameless electropop, and it's fantastic. I really like this first song (& the video).
I immediately checked out as many of their videos as I could find on YouTube. I got listening to this next one (Time Will) and the voice sounded really familiar - it only took me a few seconds to realize that it sounded like one of the singers from Cocorosie (I got really into them for a few weeks, but quickly got bored with them).
Hercules & Love Affair are a bit more chill than the electro that I would usually put on, but I like that.
I've been living back in Canada for over a month now, but I still can't get my head out of Britain.
As music goes, I have been listening to pretty much British artists exclusively (although with the od bit of American pop if I like it. I like some of the stuff that has charted there, but some of them I really can't stand - like Duffy, she's fine I guess.
One of my favourite bands from the UK is Robots in Disguise -- it's shameless electropop, but it's got a bit of an edge that I really like, this song "Turn It Up." I've listened to it countless times and I still could listen to it so many more times. I think I partly like it because it brings back memories, but I really like the lyrics and just the sound of it too. Whenever I hear the heavy breaths at the beginning, I always feel like I should do it too (and I frequently do, depending on where I am).
I've been getting really into Hadouken! over the last few weeks though -- I can't decide whether I like their videos though. The songs are great to listen to in the car though. It takes me about ten times of listening to actually get/understand the lyrics, but I like that. I'm alright with the accent, but it just goes by so fast it takes a few times to register, but I get so caught up in listening that the rest of the world kind of shuts down.
I really get like that whenever I find a new artist/album/song that I love - I can get so into it and just listen, the entire thing can completely turn my mood around and no matter what the mood or sound is, it makes me feel really energized and motivated. Even the most depressing song or style can still make me feel great. It's like if there's any energy in the song at all, even if it's negative, it turns into a positive thing.
I'm not sure if I'd actually say that Brit fashion is my obsession, but more the style. It's so different than North American style, especially for guys. It seems to be a bit more rough and edgy and more rock and roll versus being more polished almost to the point of artificiality. I used to really like dressing to try to be flawless, but it's more fun to TRY to look a bit rough.
